Ferry across Merssey

Today we decided to go over to New Brighton by traveling on the Ferry from Liverpool to Seacombe and walk the 3 mile to New Brighton along the Esplanade and the Magazine store. Its a lovely walk watching all the boats go in and out of the port, you can imagine how it was in years gone bye with hundreds of boats waiting out in the estuary for their turn to unload. However our walk was done with the wind and rain on our back and almost in our 3 mile walk we only met two other people.  On reaching New Brighton and the rain still comming down in turents we decided to take and early lunch. We found a chippy that in both Menu and decore  was back in the 50s. However food was really good and cheap though Noreen did not apreciate the Pea juice soaking into her Salad? You had best let Noreen explain that one.  After lunch the rain really started to come down, so we decided to take the advice of one of our diners and take the Bus back not just to Seacombe but direct to Liverpool, It was the bes

Again a plan that worked. as we are now in Liverpool Salthouse Dock arrived here yesterday. We arrived at the top lock at 11.00 to start our descent into Liverpool only to be met by Sid who greeted us with "you're booked to go in Tomorrow" After a few minutes of searching the internet to prove I was right, I was WRONG! yes, I was a day early, However,  we know Sid, and he and his crew love Noreens biscuits which are a good bribe and he let us through. the passage through the now much smaller "sids Ditch" due to the expanding Everton Stadium. with a gale-force wind blowing, it was a rough ride. when we reached the open water in the larger Docks things became really rough But I  always say if it wasn't safe they would not let you do it ???? So we are here we did our first tour of the shops this morning Tomorrow will be another adventure I fancy crossing the Mersey on a ferry maybe to New Brighton thats where all the oldies go.  I always think this as the Liv
Here we are again  Yet another twist in this strangest of cruises, As I recorded in my last blog was that we had arrived in Burscough, it is a great place to meet up with other boaters that haven't seen for some time I have no idea why it just appears to be that way. We only intended to be in Burscough 2 nights and had to stay 4 nights to get to Scarisbrick there are two swing bridges and yes you guessed it the day we were to leave a vehicle struck the Balestrade of the bridge and crippled the bridge it was either a large HGV or a Tractor either one it makes no difference as there are weight limit signs which should deter large vehicles going over the very rickety bridge but they all know that the police will not take action and neither will CRT . though this time the repair crew has opened the bridge for water traffic and closed it for everything else, I believe they are in no rush to fix it. This means that road traffic will not be able to use the road as a shortcut to the indust

ONE MORE LAP

Hi Well we have made it as far as Burscough the reason we did not turn Right at the Rufford junction is we are having a two days here in Burscough then a few days in our second home Scarisbrick and then we are going to Liverpool for another 6 days it looks like I will be in Liverpool for my Birthday. I apologise to all my Mancunian relatives, though I left there in 1965 at the age of 17 since then lived around this country and around the world, though my accent is still quite pronounced and I expect I still consider myself a Mancunian, However Noreen is a Salfordian and we were married in Salford I also play Guitar in Salford cathedral, I expect in all reality I am some one who is from where he is. I suppose thats why this nomadic life is easy for me in boating circles we say “where ever my boat is thats my home. From leaving Anderton Last Friday things went quite well and we made good time. Though Just after Preston Brook I had to do an emergency Stop on a boat with no brake
