Hi Folks

Buggerlugs at reat on the Weaver

For the past week, we have just been mucking about on the river, No special intention, nothing in the diary, and Keeping an eye on the weather because where we are mooring is opposite where the river Dane flows into the Weaver, the Dane gets its water from the Pennines and with these thunderstorms about if the Dane becomes flooded the amount of water coming into the Weaver becomes dangerous in the fact that boats moored where we are become pinned to the wall with the force of the flow, so its worth keeping a very close eye on the weather and water. The above picture is taken fron the River Dane (actually its the Waitrose car park bridge over the Dane ) it now forms quite a nice T junction.

The river is full of traffic it seems to have become a very popular destination, for boaters though I dont believe that hire boats are allowed on the river

My theory is that the popularity of the river has increased because of the deplorable state of the canals but it is only to be expected with the awful state of the canals. CRT have an app that gives warnings of stoppages, repairs and Closures anything that may hinder your progress, I get at least 6 every morning.

SO with there being plenty of boats about Mooring or I should say finding a mooring has become a lottery. However not because of the shortage of moorings thats over the past 10 years ahs improved 100% no its the mentality of some “modern Boaters” who will come onto a mooring and leave a space of 20ft between them and the next boat which means 20ft of wasted space also boats that are using the moorings as permanent mooring for a boat they hardly ever use Now the rule is max of seven days in ant one space. CRT get you finger out stop pretending that there is not a problem come on upset a few law breakers and get them shifted. Also insist that there is a maximum distace between moored boats 6ft would do. We have also found that when moored some modern boaters when seeing a loner boat struggling to get in will not go out a say” hold on I will move up a bit to get you in. Polite boating, looking after you fellow boaters cost nothing. I will say it again “things are not! what they use to be

We had a great day out on Sunday with Maryanne and today Hopefuly Steph & Phil are joining us for a day on the river

This was taken 22.30 last night of the road bridge connecting us the town

Again days out with Maryanne can always go a little crazy
