Our Keith's Birthday Today I wished him HB at 0730 this morning just as we were moving off We you have it to do  don't you.

 Great Start today and it got better I never look forward to the four locks in Middlewich as they are the first of the narrow locks are all seem to be at strange angles, However we got through them with no problems others boats were coming our way which always makes things easier in fact we covered all three locks in an hour. The morning was dark and overcast with that ever threatening storm overhead, By 11 am we had made great progress with the storm now starting to break it was time to cut our losses and moor up for the day. Now the wind has started to kick up we would be better off staying for the day as this mooring is out of the wind 

Tomorrow we will make Barbridge Junction where we will turn right towards  Chester

  END OF SEASON I know I have been conspicuous by my absence but really I have had nothing to say nothing that I could say with using language that would get me into Trouble. CRT (canal River Trust ) has ruined our holiday and thousands of other boater's holidays be they owners or hirers. In a normal season Noreen and I covered approximately 600 miles this year we covered just under 120 for no other reason than CRT's Inability to maintain the canal and river system that they BY LAW have to!! we managed to cruise between Liverpool and Anderton (Northwich ) We were restricted in our movements by stoppages, Lock Closures because of failure, stoppages because of bank collapse and holes ie no bloody water, Now CRT keeps telling us (boaters ) that its due to Vandalism, Lack of Water, Too much water, the Weather, environment matters Vole Breeding season? Ferry across Merssey

 Today we decided to go over to New Brighton by traveling on the Ferry from Liverpool to Seacombe and walk the 3 mile to New Brighton along the Esplanade and the Magazine store. Its a lovely walk watching all the boats go in and out of the port, you can imagine how it was in years gone bye with hundreds of boats waiting out in the estuary for their turn to unload. However our walk was done with the wind and rain on our back and almost in our 3 mile walk we only met two other people.  On reaching New Brighton and the rain still comming down in turents we decided to take and early lunch. We found a chippy that in both Menu and decore  was back in the 50s. However food was really good and cheap though Noreen did not apreciate the Pea juice soaking into her Salad? crossing Barton Bridge

Barton Bridge carries The Bridgewater Canal over the Manchester ship Canal it is one of the masterclasses in Canal Engineering it is closed at both ends Then  it swing in a 45% angle to allow large ships to pass through bellow,  If you want to see it I believe that they have a practice every Thur morning  However no boats are allowed in the tub Whilst it is moving ?????
